Therapy sessions are tailored to each individual's needs using evidenced-based treatments that are most effective for your concerns.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
If you are living with OCD, treatment options include Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Inference Based CBT (I-CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have received specialized training in treatment options for OCD and will work with you to decide which therapeutic approaches are most appropriate for your needs.
Perinatal Mental Health (PMADs)
Therapy for postpartum depression, anxiety, and OCD can include a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness. I have completed certificate training through Postpartum Support International on the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and particularly enjoy working with individuals with postpartum OCD.
Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs)
For hair pulling and skin picking disorders we will primarily utilize the Comprehensive Behavioral Model (ComB), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Habit Reversal Training (HRT). I have received specialized training in the treatment of hair pulling and skin picking through the TLC Foundation for BFRBs Virtual Professional Training Institute.
Anxiety and Phobias
Treatments for anxiety and phobias include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure Therapy, and Mindfulness. Treatment integrates a combination of techniques and approaches based on your specific concerns. I have experience providing therapy for generalized anxiety (GAD), separation anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, specific phobias, emetophobia (fear of vomiting), and panic attacks/panic disorder.
For childhood anxiety and OCD, I recommend parent-based therapy using the SPACE (Supportive Parenting of Anxious Childhood Emotions) approach as well as individual and family therapy. SPACE therapy is unique - parents attend therapy sessions and there is no need for the child to be willing to participate in therapy. This can be especially helpful if your child is reluctant to attend therapy, or if you are spending a significant amount of time each day accommodating for your child’s OCD or anxiety. SPACE therapy helps parents learn how to support their child in managing OCD and anxiety without providing over-accommodation or excessive reassurance. SPACE was developed at the Yale Child Study Center, and I was trained in SPACE by the creator of the treatment program.
Trauma
If you are coming to therapy due to trauma-related concerns or PTSD, I offer first-line APA recommended treatments including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) for adolescents and adults, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for children and adolescents.
Family Therapy
Depending on your individual circumstances and needs, you may find it helpful to include your family members or other loved ones in treatment. If family therapy is an appropriate supplement to individual therapy, it will be included in your treatment. For children, the participation of parents or caregivers is a significant component of therapy.
